Enjoy the local attractions of Burketown, QLD and surrounding areas with a stay at Burketown Caravan Park. We offer a range of fantastic facilities in a perfectly located park, where there’s plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy outdoor activities while staying at one of the area’s best caravan parks. Plus, we are only a 2 hour drive to the famous Boodjamulla Lawn Hill National Park & Riversleigh Fossil field.
Close by, you have the opportunity for fishing the Albert River and the Gulf. For those with boats, Albert River access is available all year round via the public boat ramp, 6km out of town. Permits are required if entering Gangalidda Garawa land to fish on the riverbanks, or you can do a fishing charter with Yagurli Tours. Air charters to Sweers Island are also available.
Built around 100 years ago, this Artesian bore is located to the south of the town on the road toward Normanton and it remains one of the really interesting bores in Queensland. This is a great location for bird watching. The bore looks more like a modern sculpture now, rather than just a bore supplying hot water. The pond and ground around the bore has been coloured over the years by the minerals in the water.
